AuDHD (Autism & ADHD)

AuDHD is a shorthand term used when someone relates to both Autism and ADHD. It’s not a separate diagnosis — rather, it reflects a shared or overlapping experience of traits from both.

While Autism and ADHD are distinct, they often occur together. In fact, many people naturally notice signs of both, whether or not they’ve been formally diagnosed.

Some common overlaps might include:

Living with both sets of traits can be rich, creative, and deeply insightful — but it can also be tiring to constantly navigate systems or expectations that weren’t built with your needs in mind.

Because AuDHD can look different from the “textbook” version of either condition, it’s often misunderstood or missed entirely — especially in adults, women, and marginalised communities. Masking, burnout, and delayed recognition are all common.

Understanding AuDHD can help people make sense of how they experience the world, and find language that feels right for them.
